The founder of Herbal Fortress is Margo Jordan Parker, OMD. Dr. Parker has been practicing and teaching Chinese Medicine since 1985. She has been involved in the emerging field of Integrative Medicine and in instructing physicians who are forming a bridge between natural and alternative medicine with standard allopathic medicine. This is the new field of “Integrative Medicine.”
Dr. Parker was part of the original faculty and helped to develop the curriculum in Oriental Medicine for the Program in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona. Andrew Weil, MD is the director of the Program in Integrative Medicine. Dr. Parker is also an adjunct faculty member of the University of Arizona’s College of Medicine where she teaches a fourth-year elective course, “A Survey of Chinese Medicine.”
Dr. Parker founded the Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine department at the world renown Canyon Ranch Spa and Resort in Tucson, Arizona in 1990. She was also featured in the May, 1986 issue of LIFE Magazine as one of the health care providers who “Keep the Stars Shining”. The article featured Dr. Parker’s natural facial rejuvenation that she pioneered in Hollywood using acupuncture and micro-current therapies. This was also covered in the LA Times Magazine, and Los Angeles Magazine. And Dr. Parker has made numerous appearances on national TV.
